Stacey McKay is a Pharmacy Manager at Walgreens. Although there are not many Black Pharmacy Managers working at Walgreens in Milwaukee, she has been one for 25 years. Stacey is in charge of the entire pharmacy. She finds her job very rewarding.
Stacey attributes her success to having great parents who encouraged her to get a good education. Although her father is deceased, both parents helped to shape who she is today. Her mother has a Master’s degree in Teaching and is a proud 85 year old school teacher at Holy Redeemer School.
Stacey graduated from Madison University High School, formerly known as James Madison High School in 1978. Stacey attended and graduated from Bernie Robbins School of Real Estate and acquired their broker’s license in the 1980s. Selling real estate was not Stacey’s forte. At the suggestion of her brother, Stacey decided to enroll in UW-Madison School of Pharmacy and she graduated in 1985, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. She also attended Concordia University and in 2009, she graduated with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. She is a member of the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin.
She has been married since 1989 to Marvin. He graduated from Lincoln High School and manages their real estate properties and daycare center – Heaven’s Angel Daycare. Both are the proud parents of two sons, Nicholas and Jonathan.
As parents, the McKay’s has always encouraged their sons to do their best. Nicholas is very interested in the health field and his brother is majoring in accounting. Both attend the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and work at Walgreens.
There are not many Black Pharmacy Managers working at Walgreens in Milwaukee. Stacey as a Pharmacy Manager is in charge of the entire pharmacy. She manages the Pharmacy Technicians, manages a staff member and regularly assists customers. This, along with the fact that Stacey has worked for Walgreens for 25 years in this capacity is what makes her a 2013 Black Excellence Award Honoree.
