Magistrate Judge Nancy Joseph
Nancy Joseph is a United States Magistrate Judge. She is a graduate of St. Michael’s High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey and attended Howard University, in Washington, D.C., where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Judge Joseph was granted a Juris Doctorate from Rutgers Law School in 1993. She is a member of the Wisconsin Bar Association, Eastern District Bar Association, 7th Circuit Bar Association, and the U.S. Supreme Court Bar Association. Judge Joseph’s career began as a State Public Defender for the juvenile courts where she worked on behalf of children requiring CHIPS, Children in Need of Protection or Services, advocacy. She has also served as a Federal Public Defender. Dr. Joseph believes that she is motivated toward excellence because she also owes it to her children and the next generation to be a model of excellence. She’s compelled to, “Do right by them”. Judge Joseph has been married to James Duncan, a Milwaukee Public Schools educator, for twenty years. They have two children, Lauryn, 15 and Miles, 9.
